More information about 5 Dark Purple Lilac Perennial Flowering Shrub Cuttings Clippings for Propagation

What you pick up: Five at-least 6-inch unrooted cuttings
    Common Name: Lilac
Scientific Name: Syringa vulgaris, dark purple flowers

U.S. Hardiness Zone: 5-7 (however, I'm in zone 8b and my lilacs are thriving)
    Sun Requirement: Full Sun
    Water Requirement: Deep, infrequent watering

How long it takes for cuttings of this plant to root: 1-2 months

Spring/summer - cuttings will have top leaves that may fall during the rooting process
Autumn/winter - cuttings will not have leaves because they are dormant

Cuttings can be propagated any time of year with the following process:

    How to root:
~ Re-cut stem ends and dip in rooting powder. Rooting powder is optional but increases chances of rooting
~ Insert cut ends into moistened sand or potting soil
~ Keep the sand or potting soil moist but not sopping wet until they root.
~ A clear plastic 'tent' held up with sticks over the cuttings can help retain moisture but is not necessary.
~ They can take 1-2 months to root.
