A splendid fit for slowly ramping on and off the light so that the fish don't secure spooked when it comes on. The dimmer is a bonus with purchase in case you need to have a light that is not timed but in need of dimming feature.

They're not intended to be used together on one light because the timer can be programmed to dim the light down on its own. But you probably can use them together if you needed to for certain reason.
